'Gun-Free Zones' are only gun-free, until somebody brings a gun. - Unknown

Ever wonder what happens when someone crosses the rail at the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknowns?

Frankly, I had not considered the issue. I "expected" everyone else to respect our hallowed dead fighting men/persons. I should'a known better.

Those guards bear a HOLY responsibility! Don't mess with them!

I ass-u-me that is a M1 Garand rifle (semi-automatic, .30-'06 cartridge) he's carrying. If so, it makes a .308" hole on entrance. Exit size depends on resistance encountered in passage and "other" factors.

Perhaps the hapless, brain-dead individual attempting to cross the rail ass-u-me-ed it was unloaded? Perhaps. Most people just don't know how to behave around firearms these days. Especially in the hands of a man performing holy service. "An armed society is a polite societ" - Robert A. Heinlein
